Union County, NC - Sheriff

The Union County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program is designed for young men and women who are interested in learning more about law enforcement, leadership, and community service. Open to students in 6th grade through age 20, the program provides hands-on experiences that offer a unique look into the daily responsibilities of law enforcement professionals.

Explorers participate in physical fitness training, scenario-based exercises, leadership development, and educational opportunities that help prepare them for future careers in public service. Members also play an important role in supporting community events throughout the year, including Special Olympic fundraisers, community events, and many other Sheriff’s Office initiatives.

Explorers wear a professional uniform and attend monthly training meetings, as well as special team-building activities and field trips throughout the year. Through these experiences, participants build confidence, develop leadership skills, and gain a greater understanding of what it means to serve their community.
