WIXE DEPUTY OF THE MONTH JULY 2026

Sheriff Eddie Cathey is proud to recognize Deputy Brandie Grant as the WIXE Deputy of the Month for July 2026.

Deputy Grant was selected for her quick response, professionalism, and lifesaving actions during a recent medical emergency. While assigned to the Indian Trail Division, Deputy Grant responded to a call regarding an elderly female who was choking. Being nearby, she arrived within minutes of being dispatched.

Upon entering the home, Deputy Grant found the woman lying on the kitchen floor, unable to breathe after choking on peaches. Without hesitation, she relied on her training, lifted the woman, and performed the Heimlich maneuver. Her immediate actions successfully dislodged the obstruction, allowing the woman to breathe again.

Emergency Medical Services arrived shortly afterward and transported the woman to a local hospital for further evaluation. Thanks to Deputy Grant’s swift response, sound judgment, and lifesaving intervention, what could have been a tragic situation had a positive outcome.

Deputy Grant’s dedication to serving others and her ability to remain calm under pressure exemplify the highest standards of the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Her actions are a testament to the importance of training, preparedness, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the citizens of Union County.
