WIXE DEPUTY OF THE MONTH FEBRUARY 2026

Sheriff Eddie Cathey has selected Chandler Parker as the Union County Sheriff’s Office WIXIE Deputy of the Month for February 2026.

Recently, Deputy Parker was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Flint Rock Road in Marshville. Upon arrival, he observed white smoke coming from beneath the residence. Acting quickly, Deputy Parker located and opened the crawl space door to assess the situation and determined the fire appeared to be originating from the home’s hot water heater.

Without hesitation, Deputy Parker retrieved a fire extinguisher from his patrol vehicle and used it to suppress the fire underneath the house, helping slow the spread until fire department personnel arrived and fully extinguished the blaze. His immediate action played a critical role in preventing further damage and potential loss.

In addition to addressing the fire, Deputy Parker remained on scene to assist the homeowners by ensuring their dog was kept safely away from the residence during the incident. His awareness, compassion, and commitment to safety extended beyond his initial response and reflected his dedication to protecting both people and their property.

Deputy Parker’s quick thinking, decisive action, and willingness to go above and beyond exemplify the values of the Union County Sheriff’s Office. His efforts helped a local family preserve their home during what could have been a tragic event.
