Yesterday, deputies assigned to Indian Trail responded to a call regarding a female choking. Deputy Brandie Grant was nearby and arrived within minutes of being dispatched.

As she entered the home, she found an elderly woman lying on the kitchen floor choking on peaches. Deputy Grant quickly utilized her training, lifting the woman and performing the Heimlich maneuver. As a result, the woman was able to expel the obstruction from her throat.

EMS arrived shortly afterward and transported the woman to a local hospital for evaluation.

We are incredibly thankful for Deputy Grant, her quick response, and the training that helped prevent this situation from ending in tragedy.
