Yesterday, Patrol Deputies were dispatched to a reported assault at a local gas station. During the incident, two customers physically assaulted the store owner and pointed a firearm at him. The suspects then quickly left the store, driving a blue Ford Flex with South Carolina plates.
Deputies searched the surrounding area and located the suspect vehicle. Although the offenders were no longer inside the vehicle, deputies were able to positively identify them as Zachary Snyder and Carl Snyder from video footage obtained from the store.
Deputies, along with the Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) Detectives, obtained arrest warrants for both Zachary and Carl Snyder. Detectives also secured a search warrant for the suspects’ residence.
Deputies from the S.H.I.E.L.D. Unit, S.A.F.E. Unit, Patrol, and CIB executed the search warrant and took both individuals into custody without incident. During the search of the residence, the firearm used in the assault was located concealed inside the home.
Both Zachary and Carl were transported to the Union County Detention Center and appeared before a Judicial Official for their conditions of release. Zachary was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Assault by Pointing a Gun. His bond was set at $100,000 secured. Carl was charged with Simple Assault, and his bond was set at $1,500 secured.
