Recently, the Union County Sheriff’s Office received a cyber tip from the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force regarding an unknown individual uploading child sexual abuse material to Snapchat. Investigators determined the image was uploaded from a residence in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
Last week, the Union County Sheriff’s Office, along with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI), executed a search warrant at the residence and seized several electronic devices. While on scene, investigators developed probable cause to charge Brian Coronado Toledo with Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
Following his arrest, child sexual abuse material was located on his device. He was additionally charged with four counts of Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
Toledo appeared before a judicial official and was denied bond after telling investigators he intended to flee to his home country of Colombia upon release. This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are expected.
“I’m mighty proud of the hard work our Special Victims Unit puts in day in and day out. Working hand in hand with our partners at the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, we’re making sure the people who target children are held accountable. There’s no place in this county for predators, and we’ll keep doing everything we can to get them off our streets and keep our kids safe.”
